Mobile Broadband

Mobile broadband is very similar to DSL, cable and wireless connections in that it provides exceptional high speed internet service. However, there are differences. The primary one is that mobile broadband involves the use of cellular technology. Mobile broadband service allows for high speed Internet connections in a much larger range then even wireless. Individuals no longer have to be tied to a confined space in order to take advantage of wireless connections. For example, the typical use of wireless broadband allows users to use their laptop computer without having to be “hooked up” to the internet. However, individuals must stay within certain parameters. Mobile broadband takes away this restriction. Individual can use their laptop computer wherever they are able to pick up a cellular signal. Mobile broadband works well in both a structured environment, such as the workplace and also in a mobile one. It works great for places that may have large campuses such as college and universities. It would allow for students to use their computers while outside, in their rooms or in lecture halls. This means that people can use their PDA’s and laptops and get Internet connection almost anywhere. According to Yahoo News, the use of mobile broadband has gone up over 800% since 2007. In 2007, there were about 3 million mobile broadband connections. Today, there are over 30 million. Some reasons for this big jump in use along with the technology’s popularity is that it's cheaper, more convenient and easier to use. It also truly allows you to use the Internet just about anywhere. Mobile broadband is most similar to wireless broadband technologies such as WiFi. However, there is a difference. The biggest difference is that mobile broadband allows you to use your computer any place where you can get a cell phone signal. WiFi, wireless broadband connection allows you to only get internet service in a set area and that area is generally indoors. It works great in places like hotels, airports and Internet cafes. Mobile broadband allows you to exponentially increase the range where you can use your laptop computer.
